Michael Kempt has ventured enthusiastically into New Zealand’s great outdoors for over 20 years. He loves inspiring others to explore all that the pristine backcountry has to offer and to challenge themselves in the process.

Mike has a background in social work, graduating with honours from Massey University with a Bachelor of Social Work. The many years he has since spent at mental health agencies have supported him in developing a broad understanding of people and what helps them to thrive. His integration of this knowledge with his experience of outdoor adventure make him a truly outstanding instructor, team leader, and group facilitator.

He is a qualified guide in rock climbing, rafting, hiking, and stand-up paddle boarding, and holds advanced first aid qualifications.
