NewZeal & NewZeal Teams have become a Certified B Corporation, marking an important milestone in an ongoing commitment to operate responsibly and in alignment with their purpose of enabling health and wellbeing and empowering people to live their best lives. They are the first New Zealand-based adventure guiding organisation to receive this internationally recognised accreditation.
Since launching in 2018, NewZeal & NewZeal Teams have designed experiences centred on time outdoors, challenge, and meaningful connection. This work is grounded in the belief that being in nature and stepping into challenge plays a powerful role in people’s physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
As the business has grown, so too has its awareness of the responsibility that comes with operating in some of New Zealand’s most remarkable environments. Access to these places is a privilege, and one that carries real impact.
In particular, the company has had to sit with the tension inherent in its work. Helicopters are essential for accessing remote landscapes, while care for the environment remains a core value. Rather than avoiding this juxtaposition, NewZeal & NewZeal Teams chose to face it directly and allow it to inform how the business operates and makes decisions.
That awareness became the catalyst for pursuing B Corp certification.

The six-month B Corp process involved closely examining every part of the business, from governance and people practices through to environmental impact and everyday operations. The focus was not on achieving a badge, but on using the process as a framework to slow down, ask better questions, and identify where meaningful improvements could be made.
“We were in it for the process,” says the NewZeal team. “It gave us a structured way to reflect honestly on how we operate and where we could do better.”
The journey confirmed many existing strengths while also highlighting small, practical changes that make a real difference. It reinforced a belief long held within the organisation that continual improvement matters, particularly in industries where impact is real and unavoidable.
As part of this ongoing commitment, NewZeal & NewZeal Teams point to several areas they are proud of, including a predominantly local supply chain, renewable energy use and water-saving practices at their property, support for local environmental charities working on regenerative land and water projects, and a strong focus on looking after their people. Through their experiences, the business also aims to leave guests with more than memories, consistently supporting people to return home healthier, more grounded, and more connected through time outdoors and shared challenge.
Becoming a Certified B Corporation aligns with NewZeal & NewZeal Teams’ long-held values of Safety, Service, Excellence, and Sustainability, sustainability of the environment, of people, and of the business itself. Certification is viewed not as a finish line, but as a commitment to accountability and continual improvement.
“This certification is about walking our talk,” the team says. “For ourselves, for our guests, and for the places that make our work possible.”
